Capcom has introduced a new feature in Monster Hunter Wilds allowing players to edit their hunter and Palico appearances. While the first edit is free, subsequent changes require purchasing Character Edit Vouchers. These vouchers are available in packs of three for $6 or as a combined set for both characters for $10. Without these vouchers, players can only modify hairstyles, eyebrow color, makeup, and clothing, but cannot alter core facial features.

This monetization system was not disclosed during the game's early previews before its full release. It was announced last week via Capcom's social media channels. Despite controversies surrounding microtransactions and performance issues, Monster Hunter Wilds broke records with over 1.3 million concurrent players on Steam at launch.

Capcom has yet to address player feedback regarding this decision. The community has expressed dissatisfaction with the paid customization model, comparing it unfavorably to previous entries in the series where appearance changes were either free or unlocked using in-game currency. Many fans feel that this approach undermines what was once considered a fundamental feature of the franchise.
