Let's be straight: Mortal Kombat 1 is in decline. It looks like the Season 3 content is indeed scrapped because of poor sales, and the newest trailer showcasing Pro Kompetition, an esports circuit of the game, can be called safe at best.
Pro Kompetition 2025 will have a total prize pool of $255,000. In 2025 it is not a big sum of money, even by the FGC standards. Previously, lots of top players were complaining about low prize money, because it is simply not sustainable to travel to another part of the world to earn at best a few hundred dollars.
This year we will also likely see two big pools of players: the first one will compete in North American tournaments, the second will stay in Europe, and they will meet each other only at EVO 2025, because it is The Tournament of the year.
Of course, we have huge emotions, attempts to build hype and, to some extent, it works. However, behind the sweet emotions and the teased in-game image of T-1000, we have quite a sad picture.
