Since the United States celebrated Thanksgiving last week, it was a bit optimistic to expect a big patch in Deadlock. However, the developers are back to their usual rhythm, with the slight exception that the major patch was released on Friday instead of Thursday.
So, what's in the new update? First of all, there's a new hero: Raven. A Soviet Empire spy who wants to bring Catherine the Great back to life from her ghostly state. The current lore of Deadlock raises many questions, particularly regarding the sources of inspiration, if you know what I mean.
His ultimate ability strongly resembles Medusa's Stone Gaze from Dota 2. Don't look at Raven when he's casting, and you won’t get significant debuffs. Among his other abilities, the second one stands out, as it resembles Caitlyn's 90 Caliber Net from League of Legends.
The developers have also slightly adjusted matchmaking. They added the Extra Competitive option, which will allow you to specify traits you'd like to see in your teammates. It won't work at ultra-high ratings or in situations where there aren't enough players, but it will be interesting to see how it performs and whether it will be effective.
Balance changes have affected 22 heroes and a large number of items. As usual, check out the full changelog on the game's forum.
