Developers from Rebel Wolves studio have shared details about their upcoming vampire RPG. They are placing special emphasis on the "duality" of the main character, which will be one of the game's key features.
Project game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz noted that the team is focused on creating a character reminiscent of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. This concept, well-known from classic literature and pop culture, has hardly been explored in video games until now. It adds a new layer of surrealism, and Tomaszkiewicz believes players will appreciate it, as no one has done anything like this before.
Additionally, the game director mentioned that the team plans to explore how interested players will be in controlling a character who remains an ordinary human without superpowers part of the time. This will create a unique contrast between the two sides of the hero. However, implementing such ideas requires caution from the developers. Many RPG elements have become so familiar to players that their absence might cause confusion.
Tomaszkiewicz emphasized that when creating an RPG, developers always face a dilemma: whether to use standard mechanics or try to change them. It’s crucial to carefully consider which elements can be modified and which are better left unchanged. After all, fans of the genre are often conservative, and even small deviations can spark debates.
As an example, the developer cited Kingdom Come: Deliverance, where the limited save system, dependent on having schnapps, received mixed reactions from players. This demonstrates how important it is to balance innovation with audience expectations.
The gameplay premiere of the game is expected to take place in summer 2025.
