Fatshark has launched the Nightmares & Visions update for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide on all platforms, including PC (Steam and Microsoft Store), Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. This free update adds a wave-based activity, major improvements to the endgame Havoc mode, four new mutators, a revamped Ogryn talent tree, a limited-time event, and numerous other features.

The highlight of the update is Mortis Trials, a new mode offering procedurally generated missions based on enemy waves. These missions come with roguelike modifiers that increase tension and unpredictability.

Players begin with archetypes that grant unique abilities, such as dealing elemental damage (electricity or fire) while gaining boosts against electrified or burning foes. Alternatively, another archetype focuses on faster weapon switching or reloading, with a secondary buff available during the second wave (out of a total of 12). Task waves appear on the 3rd, 6th, and 9th rounds, ensuring a dynamic experience.

The developers at Fatshark have also shared a detailed changelog for the update. Havoc mode now supports campaigns, with future releases planned to include "new mutators and a rotating mission pool" alongside major updates. Other changes include quality-of-life improvements like DLSS 4 support and various weapon balance tweaks.
