We knew that the newest Tekken 8 fighter would be a guest character, because it would make no sense for Bandai Namco to announce it during The Game Awards. So, the question was simple: Who?

Fans wanted only one name from the Final Fantasy franchise. Bandai Namco indeed announced the guest character from the Final Fantasy franchise. However, these characters are not the same. Unfortunately, it is not Tifa Lockhart, the fan favorite. The newest Tekken 8 character is Clive Rosfield, the main protagonist of the Final Fantasy XVI. You can watch the trailer below.

It would be interesting to watch the reaction of the community. Fans are recently having a love-hate relationship with Tekken 8. On the one hand, Katsuhiro Harada is praised for his transparency, communication and vision. On the other hand, Tekken 8 introduced some of the unpopular decisions, like the unannounced battle passes and paid arenas.

Tekken 8 won the nomination of the best fighting game at The Game Awards 2024, but the overall dynamic of the game is yet to be determined.
