Irina "Zemlia" Sukhanova Journalist Stephen Totilo noted that Nintendo has filed a lawsuit against the Tropic Haze team, which is responsible for the development and support of the popular Switch emulator named Yuzu. This emulator allows games from the Japanese studio to be played on PCs and phones.
The lawsuit claims that the Yuzu technology illegally bypasses the Japanese company's software encryption and facilitates piracy. Nintendo is seeking damages and a complete shutdown of Yuzu.
Nintendo also noted that the pirated version of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was downloaded over 1 million times before its release, and donations to the Yuzu team during this period doubled. Thus, Nintendo essentially confirms that Yuzu contributes to the proliferation of piracy.

The ability to play Tears of the Kingdom on the emulator also led to the appearance of game spoilers online, the company reported.
Due to the actions of the emulator developers, the Japanese company is suffering ongoing losses. Moreover, these losses are to be compensated by the authors of Yuzu. The company is also demanding a halt to the distribution and support of the program.
Following the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the popularity of Yuzu sharply increased. One of the largest Reddit communities dedicated to the emulator was blocked after the number of subscribers increased from 37,000 to 69,000 in 5 weeks.
