Raphael Colantonio, one of the masterminds behind the Dishonored series and a proponent of player freedom in game design, hasn’t ruled out the possibility of working on Dishonored 3. In a recent podcast, the co-founder of Arkane Studios expressed his hypothetical interest in returning to the franchise.

Raphael Colantonio Open to Dishonored 3 but Highlights ChallengesImage: pinterest.com“Hypothetically, I could see myself working on Dishonored 3 right now,” Colantonio said. “It’s been almost eight years since Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, so, you know, why not?” Despite his enthusiasm, he acknowledged that the chances of such a project materializing are slim.

One major obstacle is the dispersion of the original development team. Both Colantonio and Harvey Smith, co-creator of Dishonored , have long since left Arkane. Meanwhile, Dinga Bakaba, who led the development of Deathloop , is now focused on an upcoming Blade game. Each of these key figures has their own vision for how a third installment could unfold, but uniting them seems unlikely.

“There’s no point speculating which of these three versions might ever see the light of day—it’s all science fiction at this point,” Colantonio joked. “So many people [who worked on the series] have scattered across different countries. Harvey isn’t at Arkane anymore, I’m not there, and Dinga’s busy with Blade.”

While fans can hold onto hope, Colantonio’s comments suggest that Dishonored 3 remains more of a distant dream than a tangible reality.
