Roblox has long faced criticism for insufficient protection of minors. Given the large number of children using Roblox, the platform has also attracted individuals with harmful intentions. Now, the company has announced a series of measures aimed at improving child safety. Starting immediately, users under the age of nine won't be able to reach content labeled with any other but a Mild Content tag. If their parents allow it, it is possible to get Moderate Content, but no further.

The most significant safety measures, however, are still in development and could mark a major step forward. It is expected that users under 13 will not be able to engage in private messaging outside the context of specific games. Parents will also control whether personal messaging is allowed at all. Additionally, children will be unable to view global chat messages.

In theory, these changes should significantly improve overall safety. However, we can only assess the effectiveness of such barriers once they are fully implemented across Roblox.
