At CES 2025, Sony announced a film adaptation of one of its most successful games, Helldivers 2. PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures are working on the movie.

PlayStation Productions head Asad Qizilbash announced the news from the stage, “We are pleased to announce that we have begun development on a movie based on our incredibly popular game Helldivers 2.” Details have yet to be revealed, but fans can look forward to epic space battles on the big screen.

Helldivers 2 from Arrowhead Studios is a shooter game inspired by the iconic Star Troopers.

The game became PlayStation Studios' fastest-selling project, selling 12 million copies in its first 12 weeks. Its popularity increased again with the Illuminate update, which added a new faction of enemies from the first game in the series.

Plus a movie based on the Horizon Zero Dawn game is going to happen. Production will be handled by PlayStation Studios and Columbia Pictures, the same studio that produced the successful Uncharted adaptation in 2022.

Asad Qizilbash shared the first details of the project: “We are just starting to work on the Horizon Zero Dawn movie, but we can already promise the audience: this world and its characters will be presented in a cinematic format for the first time”.
