The System Shock series has had a massive influence on the gaming industry, and it's a bit of a shame that it faded into obscurity in the 21st century. However, things are starting to change. Last year, the System Shock remake was well received by players, and now, at the Future Games Show, we’ve been treated to a new trailer for the System Shock 2 remaster, along with its release date: June 26.
Developers promise a range of improvements to make the game more accessible to modern audiences. The remaster will feature controller support, higher frame rates, ultrawide monitor compatibility, and an easier mod installation process.
The game is expected to retain the tense atmosphere of the original, allowing players to once again explore the nightmarish corridors of the Von Braun, a spaceship infested with mutants and controlled by the sinister AI, SHODAN. And while there is no big news about System Shock 3, replaying the classics is the only option we have.
