The remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has been making increasingly frequent appearances in conversations among gaming journalists, and the latest info from Jeff Grubb has fans feeling hopeful. According to him, the release could happen “at any moment this month.”
Grubb claims the revamped version of Oblivion will launch as a “shadow drop” — meaning it’ll be immediately after it’s announced. Apparently, Microsoft and Bethesda aren’t planning any big marketing campaign or promotional buildup for the RPG’s re-release. They pulled a similar move with Hi-Fi Rush. Of course, a surprise launch for a new IP and one of the most iconic franchises in gaming history are two very different things — but the publisher likely knows what it’s doing.
According to insider reports, the Oblivion remake is in good hands of Virtuos Studios. The key feature of this project is the Unreal Engine 5, with not only a graphical overhaul but also improvements to various gameplay mechanics.
