The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has signed an agreement with certain partners to develop the next version of the FIFA football simulator. This was announced by the organization's president, Gianni Infantino, during the 74th FIFA Congress.

Infantino did not specify who the federation's partners in the game's development are. According to leaks, the development is being handled by 2K, a company known for the NBA 2K series. Insiders suggest that the next FIFA game will feature thirty-five licensed football leagues and over eight hundred teams. These details have not been confirmed by FIFA or 2K.

FIFA and EA parted ways in May 2022. The exact reasons for this are unknown, but most likely the problem is in the money. According to The New York Times, FIFA demanded to double the royalties for the use of its licenses, which Electronic Arts decided not to agree to.

Following the end of the partnership, EA began releasing the game under the title EA SPORTS FC.
