Yesterday, Valve released a major update for Deadlock, so it seemed changes wouldn’t come for a while. However, today, the game developer known as Yoshi revealed adjustments to the matchmaking algorithms on the game's Discord server.

These changes affect groups with players whose skill levels vary significantly. Yoshi explained that a large number of complaints about unbalanced, one-sided matches often come when one team has such a group. Now, the algorithm will attempt to match these groups against each other. On one hand, it may now be harder for players to find games with friends of varying skill levels. On the other hand, this should improve the experience for many players.

The developers also plan to add a graphical hint indicating when there’s a significant skill difference within a group that could impact matchmaking times. We’ll soon see how much these adjustments improve match quality in Deadlock.
