Every piece of news like this is written with some heaviness on the soul, but this is also part of the harsh business world. The age of layoffs in the gaming industry continues. Eidos-Montréal has announced the completion of one of its key projects. And since this has freed up a significant number of employees—without available positions on other projects—the company has decided to lay off 75 staff members.

Management assures that those affected are incredibly talented professionals with extensive experience. They will try to ease the transition as much as possible, but ultimately, these developers will enter a job market already saturated after a prolonged period of industry-wide layoffs.
This all looks like another stage of the big restructuring of Embracer. Eidos-Montréal has not revealed which project has been completed. The studio's last released game was Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, which received excellent reviews but couldn't fulfill sales expectations.
