Electronic Arts is working on solutions to address the decrease in player engagement for Apex Legends and its shortfall in revenue targets.

The company acknowledges that the August launch of Season 22 was less successful than expected, and adjustments to the battle pass structure did not lead to the anticipated growth of cash, thrown at developers by players.

However, EA remains optimistic, believing that it can return the title back to the revenue growth zone over time. According to CEO Andrew Wilson, significant systematic changes are needed to ensure substantial audience growth.

At the same time, there are no plans to relaunch Apex Legends as an "Apex 2.0." Observing other live-service games, it’s clear that second versions are very unlikely to reach the success of the originals. EA is confident that the team can create additional opportunities for player interaction across various modes for Apex Legends, expanding beyond the current core mechanics without the need to split the game into two.

However, there is one great point of concern. Looks like EA were hoping to make revenue targets by modifying the battle pass system, but that decision faced player backlash. That was kind of low hanging fruit, but can EA and Respawn do the upgrades in the right way?
