The game director of Project Polaris, Sebastian Kalemba, announced that the development of the new installment in the iconic The Witcher series has entered full-scale production.

The new entry in The Witcher franchise, currently codenamed Polaris, is intended to be the start of a new saga within the Witcher universe. So far, little is known about the game beyond the name of one character — Branko — and the fact that Geralt of Rivia will return as a secondary character.

While some have speculated about a release date for The Witcher 4, it remains uncertain — largely because CD Projekt Red is known for its unhurried approach to game development. It’s safe to say that the game won’t be released within the next two years.

Earlier this year, CD Projekt expanded the development team for The Witcher: Polaris. As of the end of October, the new Witcher project team has grown to 400 members. In addition to Polaris, the studio is also working on several other projects, including a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.
