In light of the recent news about the cancellation of the Wonder Woman game, Jason Schreier has shared new information regarding the situation within Warner Bros.' gaming division.
As it turns out, the focus on live-service games now exists only on paper—literally. The company mentions them exclusively in financial reports to investors, although in reality, it plans to move away from this game model.
During the Kinda Funny Games podcast, the journalist revealed that the upcoming Hogwarts Legacy 2 will not be a live-service game. Similarly, Wonder Woman was never intended to be one either. As for Rocksteady and Warner Bros. Montreal, Jason Schreier suggests that these teams are no longer under immediate threat for the next few years. The company's leadership will be closely monitoring the progress of their projects. According to recent insider information, Rocksteady is already pitching its next single-player Batman game to Warner Bros. Games executives, while Warner Bros. Montreal will be working on a Game of Thrones project.
As for TT Games, the studio will return to creating a LEGO game based on a well-known franchise. Schreier deliberately did not specify which franchise to avoid spoiling the surprise. This game is expected to be released within the next couple of years.
