This was reported by a former employee of the studio on her LinkedIn profile. The game had been in development for several years, but its production was halted this week without any clarification on the reasons.
Last year, journalist Jeff Grubb mentioned that the project was not a mainline entry in the series, meaning it was not Titanfall 3. To develop it, Respawn formed a special "experimental team," recruiting specialists with experience in creating multiplayer shooters.
Previously, the studio had canceled another project an arcade shooter codenamed Titanfall Legends, which was shut down last year.
The Titanfall series is known for its dynamic blend of action and mech piloting, where players can fight as pilots or control powerful Titans. Since the release of the first installment in 2014, the franchise has gained popularity thanks to its unique gameplay, combining parkour and dynamic team battles.
Currently, Respawn is focused on developing the third installment of Star Wars Jedi and a new strategy game set in the Star Wars universe, which is being created in collaboration with Bit Reactor.
