Epic Games is making big changes to its Epic Games Store starting June 2025 — and they’re great news for developers. The platform will no longer take any commission from the first $1 million in revenue that a game or app earns annually, as long as it uses Epic’s own payment system. After that, the usual 88/12 revenue split will apply (88% to devs, 12% to Epic).

Another major update: developers will now be able to build their own web-based stores hosted on the Epic Games Store platform. These custom shops can be used instead of in-game purchases and are meant to challenge the high fees charged by Apple and Google.

To sweeten the deal for players, Epic is also launching a new incentive. Anyone who makes a purchase through one of these new web stores will get 5% of the purchase value back in Epic Rewards points.

These changes follow Epic’s legal win against Apple, and they mark another step in the company’s ongoing battle to create a fairer digital ecosystem for both developers and gamers. The competition is becoming more and more fierce. In general, the winner of this race is the average player.
