Katsuhiro Harada, the mastermind and long time producer of the Tekken series, posted on LinkedIn expressing interest in new career opportunities. He mentioned different positions including executive producer, game director or head of business development, as well as vice president of marketing.
The prospect of Harada leaving Bandai Namco just a year after the release of Tekken 8 has genuinely alarmed the community. Harada has been with Bandai Namco for over 30 years and has become the beloved face of the series for fighting game enthusiasts. However, the long-standing producer reassured fans that he has no plans to step down from his current role. Instead, he stated that he’s simply looking for more social interaction, new connections, and a broader horizon. Using LinkedIn for this purpose, he explained, makes the process easier for him.
As for the Tekken series itself, while it might not feel like it's in its peak form, it’s far from a situation that warrants panic or cries of “It’s over.” Fans appreciate Harada for his openness to communication, his frequent explanations of various decisions, and the engaging stories he shares. His candid approach has earned him great respect within the community.
