The past couple of years have been really rough for people in the esports and gaming industries. Lots of layoffs, as companies look to cut costs in every possible way don't bring a sense of security to people. Now, we have another case.

There have been reports from former NetherRealm employees about the closure of the studio's mobile division. Developers noted that they were affected by the large-scale layoffs and have begun looking for other jobs.

NetherRealm's mobile division was responsible for supporting Mortal Kombat and Injustice 2 for smartphones, as well as Mortal Kombat: Onslaught. There have been no official announcements about the team’s closure. However,.the official MK Mobile account stated that the support of the game will continue.

It appears that NetherRealm's mobile team has fallen victim to another wave of layoffs at Warner Bros. Discovery, which the media reported on the previous day. The main NetherRealm team continues to support Mortal Kombat 1.
