This pricing decision, according to van Druenen, aims to establish the Switch 2 as a premium option without compromising accessibility for a broader audience.

"With the $399 price point, Nintendo can appeal to both premium-conscious gamers and casual players alike. It represents a strategic move to offer cutting-edge technology while staying within reach of its target demographic," he stated.

"By setting the price slightly higher than the original Switch but lower than high-end gaming consoles, Nintendo ensures it remains competitive while maintaining healthy profit margins on hardware. This reflects the company’s commitment to balancing innovation with affordability."

Moreover, van Druenen emphasized that Nintendo is unlikely to rely on console sales for substantial profits, choosing instead to capitalize on its extensive library of games and expanding digital services. Similar business models are already being utilized successfully by competitors like Sony and Microsoft.

The full reveal of the next-generation Nintendo console is scheduled for April.
