It’s always exciting to see original games succeed — not just polished products from big studios. Hazelight’s Split Fiction is proving just that. The team announced that the co-op story-driven game has sold over 4 million copies in just two months since its release on March 8, 2025. They thanked players for their support on social media, celebrating the milestone.

Split Fiction tells the story of two girls who suddenly find themselves trapped inside their own stories and must work together to get back to the real world. The game received great reviews from both players and critics right after launch, and its strong reception has now led to something even bigger — a movie adaptation.

The upcoming film is already in the works, with Jon M. Chu directing. He’s best known for Now You See Me 2 and the upcoming Wicked musical. Actress Sydney Sweeney is also set to play one of the lead roles. There’s no release date yet, but the project is officially moving forward.
