Every Christopher Nolan film is a major event in the movie world, and after the massive success of Oppenheimer, the entire industry is watching the Oscar-winning director’s next move even more closely.

His new film, Odyssey, is set for release next summer. While that may seem far away, Universal is already building anticipation by revealing the first official image—featuring Matt Damon as the protagonist.

Unlike Dunkirk or Oppenheimer, this time, Nolan isn’t drawing from real historical events. Instead, he’s tackling one of the most culturally significant works in human history—Homer’s Odyssey. In case you didn't know the plot: Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, is going home after the Trojan War. Along the way, he encounters the Cyclops Polyphemus, the Sirens, the nymph Calypso, and the sorceress-goddess Circe as he navigates the treacherous waters separating him from his homeland and his wife, Penelope.

Now that Nolan no longer carries the weight of an unclaimed Oscar and his last film achieved massive box office success, expectations are high for an epic adaptation, brought to life with cutting-edge IMAX technology.
