Marvel’s Thunderbolts had a strong opening weekend, pulling in $76 million in the US and another $86.1 million internationally — a bit higher than analysts expected. The movie also landed well with audiences, earning 94% positive ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. That ties it for third-best audience score in the MCU, just behind Shang-Chi and No Way Home.

The budget was high, around $180 million plus another $100 million for marketing. But thanks to the good word-of-mouth, experts think Thunderbolts might stay in theaters longer than average, giving it more time to earn.

Meanwhile, The Sinners held on to second place in the US with $33 million in its third weekend — a drop of just 27% from last week. Minecraft: The Movie is closing in on $400 million in the US and is about to hit $1 billion globally. On the flip side, the western Rust, marked by tragedy during filming, flopped heavily with just $25K from 115 theaters.
