The film based on the eponymous game has already managed to disappoint critics, and now another unpleasant detail has come to light - the original creators were left unmentioned in the credits.
As reported by Kim MacAskill, former Narrative Design Director at Sony Interactive Entertainment, the film ignored those who stood at the origins of Until Dawn. In her LinkedIn post, she pointed out that neither the writers, nor the directors, nor the producer were listed in the final credits. Instead, the studio limited itself to a dry disclaimer: "Based on the game by Sony".
They devoted years of work to create something truly unique, and the world should know who it belongs to... Yet in the end - no gratitude, no respect, not even a single line in the credits.
She noted that even in the film industry, where authors are sometimes undervalued, it's customary to at least formally credit the creators of the source material.
The former Sony employee also initiated a petition demanding to rectify the situation and add the developers' names. However, given the film's failing reviews, perhaps the lack of connection with the original might have even worked to their benefit. The adaptation premiered on April 23-25 (dates vary by country).
