Not everyone knows that Microsoft has its own tool to boost PC performance. Given that it’s developed by the same company that created the Windows operating system, the risk of making damaging changes is significantly lower.
Microsoft recently updated its PC Manager to version 3.14, and this update has two key highlights. First, users can now monitor their internet speed in real-time via a toolbar. This feature is convenient and also enhances security—there have been cases where users identified vulnerabilities because their internet usage graph showed unusual activity. For gaming, it’s also helpful to know if a launcher is trying to force an update on a game.
The second change is an improved disk cleanup algorithm that removes unnecessary and junk files. While third-party programs carry some risk of altering Windows settings (for example, accidentally deleting an important system file), this risk is lower here.
PC Manager can be found and downloaded from Microsoft’s official website.
