In an attempt to stand out in the market, monitor manufacturers are experimenting with different concepts. Some are offering models with a 750 Hz refresh rate, while ASUS has decided to combine a display… with an air purifier!
The new lineup includes three monitors from the VU Air Ionizer series, available in 23.8, 27, and 34 inches. To purify the air, the monitors are equipped with an ionizer, which, according to ASUS, can remove up to 90% of dust, allergens, and other particles without needing filters. The effective coverage volume of the ionizer is 1 cubic meter, the company noted.

The concept itself is quite interesting, but it won’t appeal to hardcore gamers. The issue is that the IPS panel’s refresh rate is only 100 Hz. While that’s more than enough for casual gaming and watching movies, it falls short when it comes to competitive gaming and esports.
The new monitors are expected to start at $130, which is a reasonable price. It’ll be interesting to see gamer feedback, as this direction in monitor development is, to put it mildly, unusual.
