Nintendo finally annoucned its newest gaming console. Some people were ready to slam on the insider who said the reveal will happen today, but, NateTheHate, you were right!
The most important news — the console will be released this year! Currently, we don't have any confirmed specs, but we can see that it doubles down on the path the original Switch paved. Like its predecessor, the Switch 2 is a hybrid console: customers can play on it both at home while looking on the big screen and in portable mode. The detachable Joy-Con controllers now attach via magnets and are slightly larger, while upgraded hardware delivers improved game performance.
In the trailer, Nintendo showcased a new installment of Mario Kart, which will launch on the Switch 2. No other exclusive games have been confirmed yet. The Nintendo Switch 2 will feature backward compatibility with first-generation Switch games, including both digital and physical editions.
The next stop of this hype train is the Nintendo Direct on April 2, 2025. However, we will likely hear more news earlier, as lots of leaks now look to be correct.
