The launch of the much anticipated NVIDIA RTX 50-Series GPU is not going perfectly. NVIDIA confirmed a defect where less than 0.5% of RTX 5090, 5090D, and 5070 Ti cards had fewer rasterization blocks than claimed, resulting in 5% lower performance.
The manufacturing issue that caused the release of defective cards has already been fixed. The company did not reveal the specifics of what caused the problem and simply recommended talking to the manufacturer and asking for a replacement.
Although the issue wasn’t widespread, it affected several NVIDIA partners. Reports of missing rasterization blocks came from owners of Zotac, MSI, Gigabyte, Manli cards, as well as the Founders Edition model from NVIDIA itself.

There have been no updates regarding burned-out graphics cards. Another user reported that their 5090 burned out near the PCIe connector, despite not overclocking or modifying the hardware in any way. The issue occurred during normal computer use. What to do in such cases remains unclear.
