Over the past few weeks, we’ve been following 56 of the world’s best teams battling for 24 spots at the Perfect World Shanghai Major. Today marked the conclusion of the final RMR tournament, European RMR B.
Two major surprises stood out: Passion UA continued their success from Day 1 and secured their Major spot with a 3-2 record. Unfortunately, Eternal Fire couldn't replicate this, being eliminated with a 1-3 score. Astralis and NiP came close but ultimately failed to qualify for the Major. The seven teams advancing from this RMR are:
- BIG
- 3DMAX
- G2 Esports
- Heroic
- Virtus.pro
- Passion UA
- Team Spirit
Notably, a significant miscommunication emerged between Valve and Perfect World during the tournament. Perfect World had assumed that seeding for the Major would depend on RMR results and even organized fourth-place decider matches. However, Valve clarified that while finishing in the top seven at the RMRs was crucial, seeding for the Shanghai Major would be based on Valve’s internal team rankings.
This clarification most notably impacts BIG, who performed flawlessly at the RMR but will likely start from the first stage of the Major due to their lower ranking. Valve will update team rankings post-RMR and announce the final seeds afterward.
The Perfect World Shanghai Major begins on November 30 with a prize pool of $1,250,000.
