If European RMR A, serving as a qualifier for the Perfect World Shanghai Major, was relatively uneventful, then RMR B wasted no time in delivering surprises right from the start.

Before the tournament began, five favorites stood out: G2 Esports, Team Spirit, Eternal Fire, Heroic, and Virtus.pro. However, after the first day, only one of these teams boasts a 2-0 record. True to their current form, they’re being called G2-0 Esports. All other favorites have already suffered at least one loss. This unpredictability is part of what makes the Best-of-1 matches in the first two rounds so captivating.

The biggest surprise so far has been Passion UA. The Ukrainian squad first defeated Virtus.pro and then bested Team Spirit. For the seeding match in the Elimination Stage, the Eastern European players will face BIG. In the other 3-0 match, G2 will take on 3DMAX, which should be a relatively straightforward challenge for NiKo and his team.

The 0-2 bracket is also intriguing. The biggest disappointment so far has been Astralis. Perhaps it’s due to Device missing the tournament, but the Danes don’t seem like themselves. In the third round, they’ll face an elimination match against B8.

The third round is set to begin in just a few hours. Teams with a 1-1 record will play Best-of-1 matches, while all others will compete in Best-of-3 battles.
