In 2020, a Batman: Arkham Knight fan with schizophrenia ordered a short video from Kevin Conroy via the Cameo service. He was expecting a standard 30-second address, but received over six minutes of heartfelt words of encouragement. Conroy was moved by the fan's story and decided to record more than just a formal response for him. The video became a lifesaver for the fan during some of life's toughest moments.

A touching story of a gamer with schizophrenia appeared on reddit. After playing Batman: Arkham Knight, the fan was deeply moved by the game's ending, where Batman overcomes his fears, paranoia and hallucinations. He saw it as a reflection of his own struggle with the disease. Wanting to show his gratitude, he sent Kevin Conroy a message telling him about his condition and how the Dark Knight's story gave him the strength to fight.

Expecting the usual Cameo in response, he couldn't have guessed that the actor would record an entire address for him, full of support and understanding.

– This video has saved me from suicide countless times. Hearing Batman say he believed in me was incredibly powerful... But as time went on, it became just as important that it was Kevin himself who believed in me.

For a long time the author was not going to share this video, but when he found out that Conroy was talking about his brother who suffered from schizophrenia, he decided to publish it, hoping it would help other people as well.

– If someone in his family asks me to delete this video, I will of course do so. But it has inspired me in my toughest moments, and maybe it will inspire someone else. Hang in there. Because Batman believes in you

Sadly, Kevin Conroy, the legendary voice of Batman, passed away on November 10, 2022 at the age of 66. But his words and legacy continue to inspire millions of people around the world even today.
