In a recent interview, former lead quest designer of The Witcher 3 Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, revealed that CD Projekt Red had reservations about whether a grand narrative could coexist harmoniously within an open-world framework.

"Few games have dared to attempt what we did: blending expansive storytelling techniques, usually reserved for linear RPGs with corridor-like structures, such as The Witcher 2 and adapting them to fit an open-world experience,"

Initially, CDPR worried that the ambitious scope of the story might clash with the open-world design. Despite these concerns, the development team took the leap, leading to the creation of one of the most celebrated RPGs ever made—The Witcher 3 Today, Tomaszkiewicz leads the team at Rebel Wolves, which is currently developing The Blood of Dawnwalker Set in an alternative medieval Eastern Europe with dark fantasy undertones, the game places vampires at its core.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is under development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series platforms. Although no official release date has been announced, fans can expect a gameplay reveal this summer.
