Bethesda Softworks and id Software have officially revealed a brand-new trailer for DOOM: The Dark Ages, focusing on the Cosmic Realm — a dimension heavily inspired by Lovecraftian aesthetics. The footage showcases gameplay captured directly on the PS5 Pro, giving fans a glimpse of the game's next-generation performance.
The Cosmic Realm presents a massive environment that players will be able to freely explore. According to the developers, this new dimension complements the traditional DOOM locations by offering opportunities to uncover dark secrets and engage in battles against deranged enemies.
The storyline within the Cosmic Realm centers on an alliance between this mysterious dimension and Hell itself. This partnership introduces new, never-before-seen adversaries, including the Cosmic Baron — an enemy that uses dual blades and psionic waves capable of blocking projectiles and inflicting damage.
Another notable foe is a reimagined version of the Cacodemon, now a hybrid of Hell and the Cosmic Realm. This creature wields shields and tentacles, requiring players to master new mechanics for victory. The trailer also introduces the ballistic chain with a massive iron ball, which the Doom Slayer can use as a weapon.
DOOM: The Dark Ages is set to launch on May 15 for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5. It will also be available on Game Pass from day one.
