Bethesda has unveiled the long-awaited story trailer for DOOM: The Dark Ages, revealing key details of the impending apocalypse. The protagonist, known as the Doom Slayer, once again finds himself on the frontlines of the battle against infernal forces—but this time in the grim setting of a medieval fantasy world. The video not only immerses viewers in the game’s atmosphere but also introduces a new main antagonist.

Alongside cutscenes that make up half the trailer, the developers showcased several impressive weapons. Among them are a new type of rocket launcher and the already terrifying chain-powered cannon that fires cannonballs. Of particular note are the large-scale battles featuring Atlans—giant combat mechs that previously appeared as set pieces in DOOM Eternal. In the new game, they will become a full-fledged part of the gameplay. The trailer’s finale also teases an intriguing surprise.

The developers have previously stated that, unlike past games where the story was primarily told through scattered logs, the new installment will deliver its narrative in a more traditional way—through in-game cutscenes, which will be more frequent.

DOOM: The Dark Ages releases on May 15 for Xbox Series, PS5, and PC. The game promises not only to continue the legendary franchise but also to offer a fresh take on the DOOM universe, blending its signature frenetic action with dark fantasy elements. Fans can only wait—and prepare for another bloody crusade against the forces of hell.
