Digital Foundry has taken a close look at the console versions of Doom: The Dark Ages, and the verdict is mostly positive. According to the tech experts, the game is in solid shape on current-gen hardware, offering a great experience on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

The PS5 Pro version stood out with the sharpest visuals, thanks to higher rendering clarity. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series X delivered the smoothest performance overall, making it a great pick for those who value frame rate over image quality. However, things aren’t quite as great on Xbox Series S. While the game still runs, it comes with heavy sacrifices like a major drop in resolution and stripped-down graphics features.

Digital Foundry hasn’t tested the PC version just yet, but they plan to soon. Until then, they recommend trying the game on the stronger consoles, even calling it one of the best action shooters in recent years.
