On May 16, 2024, Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut launched on PC, reaching a peak concurrent player count of 57,934 on Steam on its release day. This result immediately placed the new port among the top five Sony games on Steam by concurrent player count. The samurai action game managed to outperform both Horizon games, as well as The Last of Us Part 1 and Days Gone.
According to SteamDB, the top 5 ported Sony games by peak concurrent players are:
- Helldivers 2 — 458,709 players.
- God of War — 73,529 players.
- Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered — 66,436 players.
- Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut — 57,934 players.
- Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition — 56,557 players.
It's difficult to determine whether Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut's player count could have been higher, but Sony had removed the game from sale on Steam in over 180 countries where PlayStation Network support is unavailable prior to launch.
At the time of writing, the samurai action game holds an 85% positive rating on Steam with nearly 4,000 reviews. Players highly praised Ghost of Tsushima's graphics, gameplay, and atmosphere, but expressed dissatisfaction with the regional availability restrictions and requirement for a PSN account.
