Meta announced that the development of GTA: San Andreas for VR has been halted indefinitely. The company first revealed the creation of the Quest 2 version in late October 2021.

Since the announcement, there have been no further details, like a totally silent mode was turned on. We didn't even know which version of the game they intended to adapt — whether the original or the remaster. Developers never answered that question.

Now, the resources are allocated to the other titles, while this one concept is basically dead. However, developers still hope to collaborate with Rockstar Games in the future.

The data miners found an unfinished VR mode in the code of GTA: The Trilogy, which could be activated specifically in the remastered version of GTA:SA.

This doesn't mean the VR games development is closed. On August 15, a presentation took place that focused on upcoming games for virtual reality headsets. Among other titles, the show featured Hitman, FlatOut, and the remake of Arizona Sunshine.
