While fans of Overwatch 2 are happy with the new upcoming Street Fighter 6 crossover, the fans of the biggest fighting game right now are beginning to get nervous. There have been reports that Capcom is planning a big change to the core game mechanic, Perfect Parry.
During EVO Japan, one of the biggest FGC events of the year, Capcom brought a new Street Fighter 6 build. This build includes Elena but also a change to perfect parry. It will be harder to perform: previously you could catch the ideal timing to issue a parry comand (middle kick + middle punch at the same time), and if you succeeded, than there would have been a short screen freeze which allowed you to punish even small attacks.
Now, the reports mention that beside the two buttons, you will be also require to hold the direction stick to the back or down-back, depending on the type of parry. Three simultaneous actions are harder than two, so this is a heavy nerf to many players. Although not officially confirmed, there’s a strong chance that a major gameplay change spotted in a new Street Fighter 6 build will be part of the upcoming Season 3 update.
This update might also include other, yet-to-be-revealed system overhauls, making it potentially the biggest patch Street Fighter 6 has seen since launch. Whether you're hyped or cautious, one thing’s clear: the devs are pushing for more precise gameplay that rewards mastery.
