Spike Chunsoft is likely having an euphoric time since the release of Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO. The game not only set the Steam concurrent players peak record for fighting games, but is also selling like an AAA hit!

In its press release, the publisher of the game, Bandai Namco, announced that the sales of the game exceeded three million copies on Day 1! This is an extraordinary result, considering that Sparking! ZERO is an arena fighting game - a very niche subgenre that is not that popular. The only great advantage is the iconic manga and anime franchise.

Dragon Ball is a cultural phenomenon not only in Japan, but in the whole world. Yet, the newest title has to offer something new and refreshing. Among the key positives highlighted in user reviews are the vibrant graphics, destructible environments in arenas, and the wide variety of characters.

Journalists compared the Sparking! ZERO to the golden era of Dragon Ball games on the PlayStation 2. Considering it is the first release in the Sparking! (also known as Budokai Tenkaichi) subseries in 17 years, the nostalgia factor played a great role. Nonetheless, we'll be following closely on the upcoming days and weeks to track the sales dynamic of the game.
