Before the Ubisoft Forward presentation, some journalists played an hour of Star Wars Outlaws and published previews with their impressions. They completed three linear levels, which included stages with shooting, stealth, and space battles.

All journalists noted that Star Wars Outlaws clearly shows how the developers were inspired by other games: for example, Uncharted, Watch Dogs, and even Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag in the context of ship management.

The stealth sections did not elicit enthusiasm from the journalists. According to them, enemies were placed at a considerable distance and were not particularly responsive to the heroine, so there were no significant issues with progressing through the levels. However, they did not specify the difficulty level of the demo.

Journalists were pleased with the seamlessness of the game: for instance, landing on a planet can be done without a separate static loading screen. They also liked the appearance of the cities, but could not evaluate the open world. It remains unclear whether there is anything to do in the settlements besides interacting with traders, accepting missions, and spending time gambling.

The preview authors noted that it is too early to make final judgments about Outlaws. According to them, Ubisoft's titles are known for familiar mechanics that usually form a mix, and in the end, the game "clicks". Journalists also hope that the authors of Outlaws will tell a more personal story and not delve into a high-stakes plot. However, it was impossible to draw conclusions about the scenario from the demo.

The release of Star Wars Outlaws is scheduled for August 30 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5.
