Kristala, a new role-playing game reminiscent of Dark Souls, will be launched on Steam's early access on June 6. What sets it apart from other Souls-likes are its main characters: anthropomorphic cats. The plot unfolds in a cursed world filled with mysteries and terrifying creatures. In the beta version, you can visit one of the six locations and face off against the final boss.
The developers promise to add a challenge mode, where you will have to battle waves of enemies. This feline Souls-like is the first project by indie studio Astal Clocktower. In the summer of 2023, the authors successfully raised a substantial $110,000 on Kickstarter, originally aiming for $10,000. The action game was initially set to launch on May 28, but the developers had to delay the release by 10 days to polish the game.
Kristala is being developed using the Unreal Engine 5, but the graphics aren't next-gen. The game's soundtrack was composed by Winifred Phillips, who created compositions for the original God of War and Assassin's Creed. It is expected that the action game will receive a full release and exit early access in the fourth quarter of 2025.
