Valve released a small patch for CS2. Along with the update, the developers banned some dishonest players who were abusing the Armory Pass XP farming.

Among these players, there are several popular names in the CS2 community, especially those who are known for their interest in skins. Among the banned we have Sparkles (2.38 million subscribers on YouTube). Considering that items received via Armory Pass have an initial seven-day trade ban, the earlier you get the big skins the higher is the price you can possibly sell.

How did they do it? It is a known glitch: you create a free-for-all deathmatch lobby and use the glitch to make it give XP as if it was a team deathmatch. That way XP is going ridiculously fast. These lobbies can't be found by accident as you need the invite to join them.

Because this exploit might disturb the nature of the skins market, it looks appropriate that those who abused these lobbies hard, received a one-year trade ban. They will still be able to enjoy CS2, they won't lose their skins, yet the one-year buffer is a good slap on the wrist.

The restrictions did not affect those who earned credits using the P90, grenades, or knives, so these ways of farming are currently considered legal.
