Marvel Rivals is launching this week, and the release trailer is the main opportunity to bring new players and fans to the project. Judging by the comments, the marketing team has done a great job.

For example, you can see a great reference to an epic Avengers scene, which doesn't need explanation. Also, lots of comic fans will be happy to see the Fastball Special an iconic trope which was introduced X-Men #100.

However, there is one unintentional reference. The music for the trailer was performed by the great Chrissy Costanza, the vocalist of Against the Current, and a singer of several Worlds anthems. But while her vocals are undoubtedly great, the instrumental part kind of resembles one of the most popular anime songs of the 2010s, Crossing Field by LiSA. While the first Sword Art Online opening was without a doubt inspiration, the song brings great epic anime vibes.

Marvel Rivals is launching this Friday, and it will be primarily a competitor of Overwatch 2. We'll have to wait a little bit longer to see if this project is a success.
