Sales of Metaphor: ReFantazio surpassed one million copies just a few hours after its release, making it the fastest-selling game in the history of publisher Atlus, according to the company’s official website.

The previous record was held by Persona 3 Reload, which took a week to reach the same milestone. To celebrate the achievement, lead artist Shigenori Soejima released a special illustration featuring Gallica, the fairy companion of the main character.

Furthermore, according to SteamDB, the game achieved the highest peak player count among Atlus titles, reaching over 60,000 players, which is 15,000 more than Persona 3 Reload and 25,000 more than Persona 5 Royal.

The new release from the creators of the Persona series, which focuses on saving a fantasy kingdom, has received outstanding reviews from critics who liked its art, story, and gameplay. The game has an impressive Metacritic score of 93 out of 100, which makes it one of the best releases of 2024.
