The main character concept designer from Naughty Dog shared artwork on Stellar Blade's official X account, and fans quickly responded. Fans responded that Hyun-taek'sportrayalof Eva was unattractive, pointing out that the concept art gave her a masculine appearance. This version of the Stellar Blade protagonist was described as ugly and terrible in the majority of the comments that followed the post. Noting that this art is at best repulsive, the majority of comments also accused the Naughty Dog designer of making Eve "awakened."

It seems that Naughty Dog is already following this trend. The studio was also criticized not long ago for using explicit DEI content in the recently revealed Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. The trailer for the sci-fi adventure broke the record set earlier this year by Concord for the most dislikes of a video game. Stellar Blade was a huge hit for Shift Up when it was released earlier this year. 

The protagonist Eve, who became a universal fan favorite because of her objective beauty, was largely responsible for the game's success. In contrast to the new design of Stellar Blade's protagonist, which was created by Shift Up studio, Eva's design was well received by the gaming community.
