On April 22nd, the creators of Valheim announced the launch of public testing for Ashlands the most challenging biome in the survival game, according to them. The developers noted that they will soon release several patches with balance adjustments and bug fixes, after which the update will be rolled out to the main game build.
The Iron Gate AB team published a detailed description of the update on Steam. Additionally, they presented a gameplay trailer for Ashlands. Valheim launched in Early Access on PC in early 2021, and in 2023 it was ported to Xbox consoles and added to the Game Pass subscription service. The full release date is still unknown. At the time of writing, the survival game has over 440 thousand user reviews on Steam, 94% of which are positive.
Here's a brief list of the update's new features:
Expanded arsenal: The number of weapons will increase to around 30 types.
Enriched bestiary: New creatures will be introduced, including regular enemies and bosses.
Enhanced crafting: Crafting will become more powerful, with over 70 new building items and about 30 consumables added.
Additional locations, soundtrack, events, and unique mechanics: Fiery rain from the sky, lava spreading across the landscape, and boiling water bodies.
