On August 16, the price of the standard edition of Mortal Kombat 1 was reduced across all platforms: the updated price is now $50 instead of $70, and on the Switch, it’s $40. Additionally, the publisher lowered the price of the first set of additional fighters from $40 to $30. The price cuts are likely due to the imminent release of the Khaos Reigns DLC, which had faced criticism from users over its cost.

Since the new expansion is sold in bundles, there may be some confusion about which one to purchase. To help with that, we’ve prepared a brief description of each option:

  • Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns Expansion ($49.99 USD for consoles and PC /$39.99 for Switch) is worth buying if you already own the original game and have access to the six additional first-year characters.
  • Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns Bundle ($59.99 USD/$49.99) is suitable if you have the base version of MK1 but do not have access to the first-year DLC characters.
  • Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns Kollection ($89.99 USD/ $79.99) is worth considering for those who haven’t purchased MK1 and want everything at once.
